Lorcana Sleeves and Card Sizes
Disney Lorcana cards are a standard trading card size, so sleeves and accessories are easy to find once you know what to look for. This guide covers the card dimensions, which sleeves fit, the trade-offs between sleeve types, and how to layer protection from a single sleeve up to a storage box.
What size are Lorcana cards
Disney Lorcana cards measure 63 by 88 mm, which is about 2.5 by 3.5 inches. That is the same standard size used by Magic: The Gathering and Pokémon, so any accessory labeled for standard-size or "regular" trading cards will fit. You do not need the smaller Japanese or "small" size (roughly 59 by 86 mm) that some other games use.
Which sleeves fit
Because the cards are standard size, you want standard-size sleeves, which have an inner opening around 66 by 91 mm to leave room for the card. Sleeves sold as "standard," "regular," or for Magic and Pokémon are the right class. Avoid small or Japanese-size sleeves, which are too tight and will not close over a Lorcana card.
Sleeve types and trade-offs
- Penny sleeves: thin, clear, and cheap, sold in packs of 100. They are loose-fitting and made for sorting, storage, and shipping, not for shuffling. Good as a first layer or under a toploader.
- Premium or deck sleeves: thicker, more durable, and usually opaque-backed. Built to survive repeated shuffling and to keep card faces hidden during play. They cost more and add bulk.
- Matte vs gloss: matte sleeves reduce glare, are easier to shuffle, and photograph better, while gloss sleeves feel slicker and slide more freely but reflect more light. Neither is objectively better; pick for how the cards will be used.
There is no single best sleeve. Penny sleeves protect cheaply for storage, premium sleeves earn their cost on a deck you shuffle every week, and matte versus gloss is a feel-and-glare preference. Match the sleeve to whether the card is a playing copy or a piece you are keeping.
From sleeve to box: layering protection
- Sleeve: the baseline layer for almost any card you handle or keep.
- Toploader: a rigid 3 by 4 inch holder (35pt fits a standard sleeved card) that stops bending. Always slip the card into a penny sleeve first so it does not rub against the hard plastic.
- Binder: a 9-pocket binder holds standard sleeved cards; side-loading pockets keep cards from sliding out when you turn a page.
- Storage box: for bulk and long-term storage, an acid-free box keeps sleeved cards upright, sorted, and out of the light.
You do not need every layer for every card. A common-value playing copy is fine in a single sleeve inside a deck box, while a valuable or sentimental card is worth a penny sleeve plus a toploader, or double-sleeving, and a spot in a binder or box away from sunlight.
